Next Technology Authorises Sale of 5,833 Bitcoin After Binance Incident
3 min read
Next Technology Holding Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTT) authorised the potential sale or pledging of its 5,833 Bitcoin holdings on October 30, 2026, following a board review of a security incident reported by Binance. The company said none of its Bitcoin was held on or through the exchange.
According to Next Technology’s October 30 official announcement, the board unanimously approved the resolution through written consent.
The decision aims to reduce cryptocurrency exposure and improve corporate liquidity without requiring an immediate sale.
The company identified international hacking threats, exchange vulnerabilities and potential risks from quantum computing as reasons for reassessing its digital asset strategy. These concerns extend beyond the Binance security incident and reflect the board’s assessment of broader custody and market risks.
Board Authorises Flexible Bitcoin Transactions
The resolution grants Chief Executive Officer Weihong Liu discretion over how the cryptocurrency holdings may be sold or used to secure financing.
The company’s announcement states: “The Board authorized the Chief Executive Officer to determine the timing, price, volume and tranche schedule of sales”.
The October 30 authorisation permits transactions in multiple tranches through cryptocurrency exchanges, negotiated block trades with selected purchasers or pledging arrangements with financing counterparties.
Liu may also delegate authority to senior officers in writing. Other directors and officers can execute necessary documents, subject to approval from the chief executive or board.
These arrangements give Next Technology alternatives to an outright liquidation. Pledging Bitcoin could provide financing while retaining ownership, although collateral requirements and potential forced sales introduce separate financial risks.
Bitcoin Holdings Highlight Financial Exposure
Using the dossier’s benchmark price of $77,000 per Bitcoin, the company’s reported cryptocurrency position has an estimated market value of approximately $449.1 million.
The dossier places Next Technology’s equity market capitalisation at approximately $7.8 million, making the estimated cryptocurrency value roughly 57.5 times larger. These figures describe different valuation measures and do not establish the company’s net asset value.
The gap illustrates why transaction prices, financing terms and market liquidity matter to shareholders. Next Technology specifically identified potential market impact, collateral requirements and margin calls among the risks associated with executing the resolution.
Custody Disclosures Leave Verification Questions
Next Technology’s publicly reported Bitcoin holdings also raise questions about independently verifying its substantial digital asset position.
The October 30 announcement did not identify public wallet addresses. Without publicly identified wallet addresses, outside investors cannot independently confirm the reported holdings through public blockchain records alone.
Next Technology operates AI-enabled software development services alongside digital asset management. Its board’s decision therefore affects an investment position that sits alongside the company’s technology business.
What Happens After Board Approval
Next Technology cautioned that transaction completion remains uncertain, including whether any Bitcoin sale, collateral arrangement or financing agreement will ultimately proceed.
Future corporate disclosures may establish whether the authorised transactions are executed and how they affect the company’s liquidity and digital asset exposure.
