Ripple Re-Locks 700 Million XRP After Escrow Release
2 min read
Ripple re-locked 700 million XRP into escrow on November 1, 2026, after releasing 1 billion tokens through its scheduled monthly process. The transactions left 300 million XRP outside escrow, without necessarily placing those tokens into public circulation.
According to Chocolate29’s November 1 report on Binance Square, the process began at approximately 00:00 UTC, when two EscrowFinish transactions released 500 million XRP each into Ripple-controlled treasury wallets.
At approximately 17:38 UTC, Ripple executed EscrowCreate transactions returning most of the released tokens to new time-locked contracts on the XRP Ledger.
XRP Escrow Allocation Breakdown
The transactions left approximately 31.1 billion XRP in Ripple-owned escrow accounts, according to the reported ledger figures.
Chocolate29 reported that the November allocation matched Ripple’s pattern over the previous 12 months, reflecting its established approach to managing scheduled token releases.
An escrow unlock transfers tokens into Ripple-controlled wallets. It does not independently establish that the company sold XRP or deposited the tokens on an exchange.
XRP traded near $1.25 on November 1, with limited price reaction reported around the scheduled release.
| Allocation Category | Token Volume (XRP) | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Gross Escrow Unlock | 1,000,000,000 | Released from existing contracts |
| Returned to Escrow | 700,000,000 | Placed into new contracts |
| Net Outside Escrow | 300,000,000 | Unrestricted by these contracts; not necessarily circulating |
| Remaining Escrow Pool | Approximately 31,100,000,000 | Subject to escrow restrictions |
What to Watch Next
Ripple’s newly created escrow contracts have unlock conditions set for mid-2029. The next scheduled monthly release will provide another measure of how much XRP the company retains outside escrow.
